Qualification routes: SSC plus trade training or relevant experience
Profile comparison
Place your details beside the official requirements
AvsarIQ shows your saved profile next to stated requirements. It does not make a final eligibility decision.
Create or open your profile| Route | What the notice requires | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| ITI or National/State Trade Certificate | SSC/10th or equivalent with Science subjects and at least 55%, plus ITI or National/State Trade Certificate in the named trade | The certificate and the trade code must match the post applied for |
| Apprentice experience | SSC/10th or equivalent with Science subjects and at least 55%, plus two years of full-time apprentice trainee experience from a recognized institution in the named trade | Keep proof of full-time training and the start/end dates |
| Work experience | SSC/10th or equivalent with Science subjects and at least 55%, plus three years of work experience in the named trade in a Ministry, department, organization, PSU or autonomous body under the Union, State or UT government | Experience must be in the named trade and must be after the minimum qualification |
The experience routes are not interchangeable with informal exposure. The notice excludes part-time, daily-wage, visiting and guest-faculty experience, and asks for evidence showing the employer, designation, nature of work and exact start and end dates. For each trade code, read the qualification paragraph in the PDF and compare the wording with the certificate you plan to upload. If you use more than one post code, the portal requires a separate application, fee and set of supporting documents for each post code, apart from the primary registration details.
Age, reservation and document checks
| Applicant category or situation | Provision in the notice |
|---|---|
| General upper-age rule | Not more than 28 years on the closing date |
| SC/ST | Five-year relaxation |
| OBC (NCL) | Three-year relaxation |
| PwBD | Ten-year relaxation, subject to the notice |
| Ex-Servicemen | Three years after deduction of military service |
| CSIR, government department, autonomous body or PSU employee | Five years with three continuous years of service, subject to the notice |
| Widow, divorced woman or judicially separated woman not remarried | Up to 35 years; SC/ST applicants up to 40 years |
For date of birth, the advertisement accepts the SSC, Matric, 10th, SSLC or HSC certificate, or an appropriate government birth certificate. Category, disability, discharge and No Objection Certificate documents should match the applicable claim and be available in the form requested by the portal. The age calculation and relaxation wording in the official PDF control if a document situation is unusual; do not rely on a coaching summary for a borderline case.
Fee and online application checklist
| Applicant group | Fee rule | Payment or submission note |
|---|---|---|
| Applicants who are not exempt | ₹500 | Pay through SBI Collect within the application window; the fee is non-refundable |
| Women, SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen | Exempt | Select the correct exemption and upload supporting proof where the portal asks for it |
| Multiple post codes | Separate fee for each post code unless exempt | Submit a separate application, fee and document set for each post code |

The portal instructions are part of the application task, not an optional formatting suggestion. A file that exceeds the stated size or uses the wrong image dimensions can prevent submission. The official notice says applications must be made online through CSIR or the recruitment site and that no other mode will be accepted. For technical problems, the advertisement gives the help desk email ra.helpdesk@csir.res.in; include the relevant recruitment and application details rather than sending personal documents through an unverified channel.
Selection process and three-paper written exam
The selection sequence starts with screening, followed by a qualifying Trade Test and a competitive written examination. The written test has three papers and the notice says Paper II and Paper III are evaluated only when the minimum Paper I threshold set by the Selection Committee is met. Final merit is based on Paper II and Paper III. The Trade Test and Paper III syllabus will be notified later on the CSIR website, so applicants should track the official recruitment page after submitting the form.
| Paper | Parts and marks | Time | Negative marking |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paper I | Mental Ability: 50 questions, 100 marks | 1 hour | No negative marking |
| Paper II | General Awareness: 25 questions, 75 marks; English: 25 questions, 75 marks | 30 minutes | One mark for each wrong answer |
| Paper III | Concerned subject: 50 questions, 150 marks | 1 hour | One mark for each wrong answer |
The written test is objective and may be OMR or computer-based. The standard is described as SSC plus ITI or Class XII, and the papers are bilingual except for the English part. The total structure is 150 questions over two hours and 30 minutes. Because the Selection Committee fixes the qualifying thresholds and the later syllabus notice controls the trade-test and Paper III details, use the table as the published framework rather than assuming a coaching source can define the final cut-off.
