CPRI Recruitment 2026: 110 Posts, Eligibility and Apply Online
A post-wise reading of Advertisement No. CPRI/06/2026, including qualifications, age limits, pay levels, selection routes, fees, documents and the 12 October closing time.

If you are searching for the CPRI Recruitment 2026 eligibility and application route, start with the post rather than the headline vacancy number. Advertisement No. CPRI/06/2026 combines engineering officers, engineering assistants, a scientific assistant role, technicians, a technical attendant, Assistant Grade II and watch-and-ward MTS posts. Their qualifications range from a first-class engineering degree with a valid GATE score to a first-class diploma with experience, B.Sc. Chemistry with experience, ITI trade certificates, a NIELIT Basic Computer Course certificate or matriculation. The official CPRI career page shows the advertisement's 19 September start and 12 October end dates. The notice states that online registration and fee payment close at 5:00 PM on 12 October 2026, and that date is also the cut-off for age, academic qualifications, certificates and category documents. That timing matters: a qualification obtained or certificate issued after the cut-off cannot be assumed to satisfy the notice. This guide explains the controlling details without deciding anyone's personal eligibility.
CPRI Recruitment 2026 at a glance
| Post or branch | Vacancies | Upper age in notice |
|---|---|---|
| Engineering Officer Grade 1 Electrical | 7 | 30 years |
| Engineering Officer Grade 1 Civil | 1 | 30 years |
| Engineering Assistant Electrical | 10 | 35 years |
| Engineering Assistant Mechanical | 1 | 35 years |
| Scientific Assistant | 2 | 35 years |
| Technician Grade 1 Electrical | 7 | 28 years |
| Technician Grade 1 Mechanical | 2 | 28 years |
| Technical Attendant Grade 1 | 37 | 30 years |
| Assistant Grade II | 29 | 30 years |
| Multi-Tasking Staff Grade 1 Watch and Ward | 14 | 25 years |
These rows add up to 110 posts. The first page of the PDF also shows category allocations and reservations, including PwBD and ex-servicemen reservations attached to particular rows. CPRI says the vacancy number is provisional and may be increased, decreased or changed according to its requirements and the availability of suitable candidates. Treat the table as the notice's current vacancy picture, not as a promise that every row will be filled. The broadest audience is not necessarily the best fit. The Engineering Officer posts require an engineering degree and a valid GATE score in the relevant paper. Technical and assistant posts use different education and experience combinations. The MTS Grade 1 Watch and Ward posts are reserved for ex-servicemen in the notice, while the Technical Attendant route is built around matriculation with an ITI certificate stated as desirable. Read the row that matches the post selected in the application form.
Post-wise qualification routes
| Route | Minimum qualification and experience | Important boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Engineering Officer Grade 1 | First-class BE/BTech in Electrical/Electrical and Electronics or Civil Engineering, as applicable | Valid GATE score from 2024, 2025 or 2026 in the relevant paper is required |
| Scientific Assistant | First-class B.Sc. in Chemistry plus five years of relevant experience | Age limit is 35 years |
| Engineering Assistant | First-class three-year Electrical or Mechanical diploma plus five years of relevant experience | The diploma branch and experience must match the post |
| Technician Grade 1 | ITI Trade Certificate in Electrical or Mechanical, as applicable | Age limit is 28 years |
| Technical Attendant Grade 1 | Matriculation or equivalent from a recognised Board | Two-year ITI in Electrical/Mechanical is desirable, not the stated minimum |
| Assistant Grade II | First-class BA/BSc/BCom/BBA/BBM/BCA plus Grade-B NIELIT BCC | The notice says other computer courses are not accepted for this post |
| MTS Grade 1 Watch and Ward | Matriculation or equivalent from a recognised Board | All posts in this row are reserved for ex-servicemen |
The Engineering Officer route is the most time-sensitive qualification check because the notice ties selection to a valid GATE score from 2024, 2025 or 2026 and specifies the paper subject. A degree alone should not be treated as enough for that row. The Engineering Assistant routes add five years of relevant experience to the first-class diploma requirement. Scientific Assistant similarly requires a first-class Chemistry degree and five years in the relevant subject field. For Assistant Grade II, the computer certificate is unusually specific: the notice names the Grade-B Basic Computer Course conducted by NIELIT and says no other computer courses will be accepted for this post. Applicants should not replace that requirement with a generic private certificate. For the Technical Attendant row, matriculation is the stated qualification and the ITI course is described as desirable. The MTS row is a separate watch-and-ward route with an ex-servicemen condition.
Pay levels and selection process
| Post group | Pay level and scale | Selection described in notice |
|---|---|---|
| Engineering Officer Grade 1 | Level 7; Rs. 44,900–1,42,400 | GATE score |
| Engineering Assistant | Level 6; Rs. 35,400–1,12,400 | Computer Based Test and job-specific practical skill test |
| Scientific Assistant | Level 6; Rs. 35,400–1,12,400 | Computer Based Test and job-specific practical skill test |
| Technician Grade 1 | Level 2; Rs. 19,900–63,200 | Computer Based Test and qualifying trade test |
| Technical Attendant Grade 1 | Level 1; Rs. 18,000–56,900 | Computer Based Test |
| Assistant Grade II | Level 4; Rs. 25,500–81,100 | Computer Based Test |
| MTS Grade 1 | Level 1; Rs. 18,000–56,900 | Computer Based Test and trade/proficiency test |
The selection table separates the GATE-based Engineering Officer route from the CBT, skill-test and trade-test routes for the other groups. The notification does not give a final CBT, skill-test or trade-test date in the advertisement. It says the schedule will be notified through the CPRI website's career or recruitment-result page, and that the venue and reporting details will be provided through the admit card or call letter. Do not turn the application closing date into an examination date. The notice also states that all posts initially carry a two-year probation period and may be posted at CPRI offices anywhere in India. Those are service conditions, not a guarantee of a particular city. The institute can cancel the advertisement in whole or in part or vary the vacancy position, subject to the terms printed in the official document.

| Post group | Fee for each post | Exemptions |
|---|---|---|
| Engineering Officer Grade 1, Scientific Assistant and Engineering Assistant | Rs. 1,000 inclusive of GST | SC, ST, PwBD, ex-servicemen and women |
| Technician Grade 1, Assistant Grade II and Technical Attendant Grade 1 | Rs. 700 inclusive of GST | SC, ST, PwBD, ex-servicemen and women |
| MTS Grade 1 | Read the current application screen and notice instructions | The notice's fee table does not list MTS in either fee band; do not infer a fee without the portal or CPRI clarification |
The fee table needs careful reading. CPRI prints Rs. 1,000 for each Engineering Officer Grade 1, Scientific Assistant and Engineering Assistant post, and Rs. 700 for each Technician Grade 1, Assistant Grade II and Technical Attendant Grade 1 post. SC, ST, PwBD, ex-servicemen and women are exempted from payment. The printed table does not place MTS Grade 1 in either fee line, so the application screen and any official clarification should control that case rather than an article guessing a fee. Bank or payment-processing charges, if any, are borne by the candidate.
- Open the CPRI career page and the Advertisement No. CPRI/06/2026 PDF before starting. Confirm the exact post, branch, category row and age or qualification route.
- Use the official CPRI application registration link. Keep a valid personal email address and mobile number available for the registration and later communication.
- Prepare a recent colour passport photograph and a clear signature scan. The notice says the photograph should be recent and the signature must remain identifiable and consistent.
- Collect the applicable SSLC/SSC or matriculation, degree, diploma or ITI certificate, mark sheets and experience certificates. Add the NIELIT BCC certificate for Assistant Grade II where applicable.
- Upload category, PwBD, ex-servicemen and NOC documents when the selected route requires them. Government, PSU and autonomous-body employees should check the NOC instruction before submission.
- If applying for more than one post, submit a separate online application for each post with its prescribed fee and supporting documents. Multiple applications for the same post can lead to rejection of all applications.
- Review the category, branch, qualification and uploaded files before final submission. CPRI warns that wrong or incomplete information and unreadable documents can invalidate an application.
- Submit and pay before 5:00 PM on 12 October 2026, then print and retain the submitted form and payment or acknowledgement record.
The document checklist is not decorative. CPRI says screening is based on the information furnished in the online form and asks applicants to upload visible, complete documents. Category cannot be changed after it is entered, and the original documents may be required for verification. Candidates in government, quasi-government, PSU, public-sector-bank or autonomous-body employment should plan for the original NOC at document verification. Keep the file names, scans and printed form aligned with the post actually selected.

Create or open your profileWhat the current notice does not decide
The current PDF does not publish the CBT, skill-test or trade-test schedule, centre list, cut-off marks or a final shortlist. It also describes the vacancy count as provisional and reserves CPRI's right to vary or cancel the recruitment. A post-wise qualification comparison can help you organise documents, but it cannot decide whether a particular degree, experience certificate, GATE score, category document or disability code will be accepted. Use the exact advertisement and CPRI's later instructions for that decision. The age and qualification cut-off is 12 October 2026, inclusive. That is separate from the time at which you happen to submit. If a certificate, result, experience period or category document falls outside the notice's conditions, do not assume that an online form submission cures the gap. The official notification remains the controlling source.
