SJVN Recruitment 2026: 21 Buxar thermal-power posts close 26 August
The Buxar Thermal Power Project notice rewards precise experience evidence: complete the online step today, then send the printout by 15 September.

SJVN Advt. 127/2026 is a time-sensitive recruitment for experienced professionals connected with the 1,320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project. The official notice lists 21 executive posts across Mechanical, Electrical, C&I and Chemical disciplines. Online registration and submission close on 26 August 2026 at 11:59 PM. A separate step remains after that: the printed application, payment receipt and supporting certificates must reach SJVN's office by 15 September 2026. The hard-copy date is not a second online application window. This guide focuses on the details most likely to determine whether an application can be documented properly: post-wise super-critical thermal-power experience, private-sector turnover and pay evidence, the application fee and the new NOC addendum. AvsarIQ organizes the current official record; it does not make a personal eligibility decision or guarantee an interview or appointment.

What SJVN Advt. 127/2026 recruits
The advertisement is for SJVN Limited's executive-level recruitment for its fully owned subsidiary STPL, which is executing the Buxar Thermal Power Project in Bihar. The vacancy table totals 21 posts. One Chief General Manager position at E8 is open to Electrical/Electrical and Electronics or Mechanical Engineering backgrounds. The remaining posts are divided between Deputy Manager positions at E4 and Engineer positions at E2. The discipline mix is unusually specific: Mechanical has three Deputy Manager and six Engineer posts; Electrical has three Deputy Manager and three Engineer posts; C&I has one Deputy Manager and two Engineer posts; and Chemical has one Deputy Manager and one Engineer post. The listed educational requirements are full-time regular degrees in the relevant engineering discipline, with M.Sc. Chemistry also listed for the Chemical posts. The notice says the marks threshold is 55% for applicants outside the specified reserved categories and 50% for SC, ST and PwBD applicants, subject to the official wording and document verification.
| Level or post | Posts | Qualification or discipline focus |
|---|---|---|
| Chief General Manager, E8 | 1 | Electrical/Electrical & Electronics or Mechanical Engineering |
| Deputy Manager, E4 | 9 | Mechanical, Electrical, C&I and Chemical disciplines |
| Engineer, E2 | 11 | Mechanical, Electrical, C&I and Chemical disciplines |
| Total | 21 | Buxar Thermal Power Project executive recruitment |
Experience is the real screening point
A degree alone does not describe the main application test. For the E8 Chief General Manager post, the notice requires at least 27 years of post-qualification executive experience in erection or commissioning and/or operation and maintenance of a coal-based thermal power plant, including at least eight years of relevant O&M experience in a super-critical thermal power plant of at least 660 MW capacity. For E4 Deputy Manager posts, the minimum is seven years of post-qualification executive experience, including at least three years of relevant O&M experience in a super-critical thermal power plant of at least 660 MW. For E2 Engineer posts, the minimum is three years of post-qualification executive experience, including at least one year in the relevant super-critical plant context. The functional-area wording differs by discipline, so applicants should map each period of work to the exact area in the advertisement rather than counting a broad power-sector title automatically. The notice excludes teaching, internship, apprenticeship and pre-qualification experience from the relevant experience calculation. It also asks applicants to support the chronology with appointment, joining, promotion, role, transfer, service, relieving, pay and other records where applicable. The useful preparation task is therefore an evidence audit: identify the exact post, functional area, plant capacity, O&M period and proof for every claimed segment.

For applicants coming from the private sector, the notice adds an organization and remuneration test. It states that the employer should have a minimum annual turnover of Rs. 2,500 crore, assessed using the average audited turnover of the three financial years preceding the current year. The E8 and E4 specifications also contain CTC thresholds: Rs. 27 lakh per year for the E8 context and Rs. 13.62 lakh per year for the E4 context. The E2 section retains the stated organization-turnover condition. SJVN asks for more than a self-written summary. The detailed instructions refer to a last pay certificate, salary and provident-fund slips for the last six months, an employer certificate showing the relevant pay scale or emoluments, Form 16 and income-tax returns for the last two financial years for private-sector applicants, and audited-turnover support. Keep these records aligned with the experience chronology. If the form cannot fully establish the essential qualification or experience, the notice warns that the application may be rejected.

SJVN's one-page Addendum I changes clause 11.24 of Advt. 127/2026. A person working under the Central Government, a State Government or a public-sector undertaking is expected to produce a No Objection Certificate at the time of interview. The addendum also provides a practical route for someone who cannot produce the NOC at that point: the person may appear for the interview after submitting a declaration that, if selected, the required release will be obtained within the prescribed joining period. This does not remove the need to check the employer's service rules or the rest of the notice. The addendum says all other terms and conditions remain unchanged. Treat it as a document-planning change, not as a relaxation of the qualification, experience, age, fee or selection requirements.
Online application, fee and document sequence
The detailed advertisement directs applicants to apply online through SJVN's Career section. Registration began on 5 August 2026 at 10 AM and the online submission deadline is 26 August at 11:59 PM. The fee is non-refundable: applicants who are not exempt must pay Rs. 500 plus 18% GST online. The notice lists SC, ST, PwBD, ESM and EWS candidates as exempt from the application fee, subject to the category conditions stated in the advertisement. After applying online, the applicant must take the printout or preview of the application and send it with the payment receipt, experience details and certificates supporting education, age, category and experience to the SJVN office address in Shimla. The last date for receipt is 15 September 2026. SJVN says hard copies arriving after the prescribed date will not be entertained, so the safe plan is to leave time for delivery and retain proof of dispatch. Keep the registered email and mobile number active because the notice uses them for correspondence.
- Open the current SJVN job page and the complete English advertisement before starting the form.
- Choose the exact discipline and level, then map every claimed experience period to the notice's functional-area and super-critical-plant wording.
- Prepare legible qualification, category, experience, pay, PF, Form 16 or ITR and employer documents that the applicable section requires.
- If you work for a Central or State Government body or PSU, read Addendum I and plan the NOC or declaration route for the interview stage.
- Complete the online registration, uploads and applicable fee payment before 26 August at 11:59 PM; save the submitted application and transaction evidence.
- Send the printed application, payment receipt and supporting certificates so they reach the SJVN office by 15 September, and retain delivery proof.
- Do not treat an interview call as final acceptance; SJVN reserves verification and medical-fitness decisions under the notice.
Selection stages and the eligibility boundary
The stated selection process is scrutiny of applications, document verification and a personal interview for shortlisted applicants. SJVN may raise the minimum standards, conduct a qualifying screening test or restrict the number of people called for interview if required. If a screening test is held, the notice says it is for elimination and the final selection is based on interview marks; shortlisted candidates can appear in Hindi or English. The offer of appointment is followed by medical-fitness requirements, and the notice specifically advises selected candidates not to resign before being declared medically fit. Use the comparison blocks and tables here as a checklist beside the official PDF, not as a final decision about an individual application. The employer's interpretation of experience, proof, category status, NOC and medical conditions controls at verification.
Official sources and current-check boundary
Use the SJVN current jobs page to confirm the advertisement entry and last date, the official detailed Advt. 127/2026 PDF for the vacancy, experience, fee, selection and hard-copy rules, the official Addendum I for the NOC change, and the SJVN application login for the online action. The current-job page and recruitment detail page were rechecked for this slot, and the PDF and addendum were read as the primary sources. The online close is 26 August at 11:59 PM; the later 15 September date applies to receipt of the printed package.
