A category-wise look at BHEL Trichy apprenticeship routes.

BHEL Tiruchirappalli is accepting online applications for its 2026-27 Graduate, Technician and Trade Apprentice engagement. The three current notices together describe 530 tentative places: 90 Graduate Apprentice, 60 Technician Apprentice and 380 Trade Apprentice. The BHEL Trichy portal shows that online submission closes on 12 September 2026 at 23:45, with shortlisting scheduled for 16 September. The useful way to read this intake is by category, because the qualification, registration system, stipend and certificate route are not identical.

The official circulars are dated 14 August 2026 and the current portal links the Graduate, Technician and Trade PDFs separately. Graduate and Technician applicants use the MHRD NATS 2.0 route, while Trade applicants use the Apprenticeship India NAPS route before completing the BHEL form. BHEL says the vacancies are tentative and that the qualifying examination, institution, age, apprenticeship history and documents must be checked against the relevant notice. This guide is a current reading of those official materials, not a substitute for the category PDF.

The totals above are the category totals stated in the three circulars. They should not be read as a promise that every place will be filled. BHEL also describes subsidized food and hostel availability for selected apprentices, subject to the arrangements in the notice. Apprenticeship is for one year, and the circulars state that training does not create an obligation on BHEL to offer employment afterward.

The Trade notice requires High School pass plus regular full-time ITI from an NCVT or SCVT recognised institute. It specifies an NCVT or SCVT certificate for the listed trades except Welder, for which the notice states the NCVT requirement. Applicants should therefore use the trade table and the exact certificate wording rather than treating any ITI certificate as interchangeable.

Common checks across the three BHEL notices
CheckWhat the current notices sayWhy it matters
Age18 to 27 years as on 1 August 2026 for the general ruleThe category notice and recognised relaxation must be checked together
RelaxationFive years for SC or ST, three years for OBC NCL and ten years for PwD as statedUse the certificate category accepted by the notice
Marks60 percent for UR, OBC NCL and EWS; 50 percent for SC and ST in the relevant noticesThe qualifying examination and category both affect the check
Study modeFull-time regular study is required; distance, part-time, correspondence and sandwich routes are excludedA course title alone does not establish the required mode
Passing yearThe Graduate and Technician circulars use the 2022 to 2026 window for the relevant full-time qualificationConfirm the category-specific passing-year wording
InstitutionCandidates who passed the qualifying examination from recognised institutions in Tamil Nadu are considered first, with the notice describing a fallback procedure if candidates are unavailableThe state-of-institution condition is not the same as a simple residence condition

The Graduate circular covers engineering and technology degrees for the five named engineering disciplines, B.Com for Accountant and B.A. for Assistant-HR. The Technician circular is for fresh full-time diploma holders in the named engineering disciplines. The Trade circular uses the High School plus ITI route. Do not select a category only because the broad word apprentice appears in all three notices.

  • Check the age reference date, category relaxation and certificate validity before opening the form.
  • Confirm that the qualification is full-time and that the passing year falls within the notice window.
  • Match the discipline, trade or role to the exact table in the relevant PDF.
  • Check whether the qualifying examination was passed from the kind of Tamil Nadu institution described in the notice.
  • Confirm that there was no earlier apprenticeship training in another establishment and that the prior work-experience restriction does not apply.
  • Read the notice-specific restrictions on postgraduate qualifications, physical standards and other conditions before treating the route as suitable.

Registration routes: NATS 2.0 and Apprenticeship India

Use the registration system for the category you are checking
CategoryRegistration systemIdentifier to preserve
Graduate ApprenticeMHRD NATS 2.0 at nats.education.gov.inBOAT or NATS 2.0 Student Enrollment Number
Technician ApprenticeMHRD NATS 2.0 at nats.education.gov.inBOAT or NATS 2.0 Student Enrollment Number
Trade ApprenticeApprenticeship India NAPS at apprenticeshipindia.gov.inThe Apprenticeship India registration number required by the trade flow

Registration on the national apprenticeship system is a preparation step, not a replacement for the BHEL Trichy application. The Graduate and Technician notices ask applicants to use the NATS 2.0 student enrollment number in the BHEL form. The Trade notice describes the Apprenticeship India sequence: register as a candidate, note the ten-digit number, activate the account, complete profile and e-KYC details, make the SSLC, Aadhaar, name, date of birth and gender details agree, enter bank and IFSC information, and then use the BHEL portal.

How to apply on the BHEL Trichy portal

  1. Open the BHEL Trichy Apprentice Management System and select the current category notice instead of relying on a third-party summary.
  2. Read the Graduate, Technician or Trade PDF that matches the qualification route and place split.
  3. Complete or verify the corresponding NATS 2.0 or Apprenticeship India registration before starting the BHEL form.
  4. Keep the correct student enrollment or apprenticeship registration number available for the form.
  5. Enter the personal, academic, category and contact details exactly as the certificates and registration profile show them.
  6. Upload the photograph, signature, marksheet, certificate and other files requested by the category notice.
  7. Check the bank account, Aadhaar seeding and DBT condition, then review every field because the form terms say corrections are not available after submission and the category cannot be changed.
  8. Submit online before 12 September 2026 at 23:45 and retain the final acknowledgement or application record.

Documents and rejection checks

  • Recent photograph and signature in the format requested by the portal.
  • Class 10 or High School certificate and the consolidated marksheet for the relevant Graduate, Technician or ITI qualification.
  • Community, OBC NCL, EWS or PwD certificate where a reservation or relaxation claim is being made.
  • Aadhaar and the profile screenshot showing the NATS or Apprenticeship India number, as applicable.
  • Bank passbook front page with an account matching the apprenticeship portal profile.
  • Aadhaar-seeded bank account with DBT enabled, as required by the application instructions.
  • An active email address and mobile number that can remain available through the application and training process.

The BHEL instructions also require applicants to keep the email and mobile details active. Upload only legible files and review the final preview. If a certificate or profile needs correction, resolve that before submitting because the current form terms state that changes are not permitted after submission.

Selection, training and what the notice does not promise

The current selection and training outline
StageCurrent official position
ShortlistingThe BHEL portal shows 16 September 2026 as the shortlisting date
MeritThe circulars describe merit based on qualifying examination marks, with older age used to resolve a tie
Physical standardsSelected candidates must meet the minimum physical standards under the Apprentices Rules, as stated in the notices
Training periodOne year for the listed Graduate, Technician and Trade Apprentice engagements
After trainingThe circulars do not create an employment obligation for BHEL after the apprenticeship

The notices make the qualifying marks important because the merit process is based on them, but a marks-based shortlist does not remove the other checks. Category reservation, physical standards, apprenticeship history, work experience, institution conditions and document verification still matter. The stipend figures are consolidated amounts in the circulars, and the availability of subsidized food or hostel should be read as a facility described by the notice rather than as a guarantee of a particular accommodation arrangement.

Final checklist before 12 September

  • Choose one category and match the discipline, role or trade to its official PDF.
  • Check age on 1 August 2026, category relaxation, marks and passing-year rules.
  • Confirm the full-time study and Tamil Nadu institution conditions that apply.
  • Finish the correct NATS 2.0 or Apprenticeship India registration and preserve the identifier.
  • Prepare certificates, photo, signature, profile screenshot, Aadhaar and matching bank proof.
  • Verify Aadhaar seeding, DBT status, email, mobile and every form field.
  • Submit online at the BHEL Trichy portal by 23:45 on 12 September 2026 and save proof.
  • Recheck the official portal before submission in case BHEL posts a corrigendum or portal instruction.
