SSC CPO SI 2026: 1,871 posts, eligibility and 30 September deadline

The Staff Selection Commission's Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces Examination, 2026 is now open. The notice uploaded on 10 September 2026 records 1,871 tentative vacancies across Delhi Police Sub-Inspector posts, CAPF Sub-Inspector (GD) posts and Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF. Online applications run from 10 September to 30 September 2026, with the last submission time at 11:00 pm. Non-exempt candidates can pay the ₹100 fee until 1 October, and a three-day correction window is scheduled for 8–10 October. The computer-based examination schedule is still to be notified. This guide brings the official notice's post split, degree rules, age bands, fee exemptions, One-Time Registration route, correction charges and physical tests together so applicants can check the right section of the notice before submitting.

The notice describes all three post groups as Level 6 positions with a pay scale of ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400. The Delhi Police posts are classified by Delhi Police, while CAPF GD and CISF Fire posts carry their respective service conditions. The 1,320 CAPF figure is shown as a combined male and female total across CRPF, BSF, ITBP, CISF and SSB. These are tentative numbers reported by the user organisations; they should not be read as a promise that every category or force will finally have the same availability. The notice also says that candidates selected for CAPF posts are liable to serve anywhere in India.

For Delhi Police and CAPF GD, the notice uses a broad bachelor's-degree rule, but the degree still has to be from a recognised university or be accepted as an equivalent qualification. Candidates who are awaiting a result can be considered only when the qualification is acquired by the closing date and the result has been declared by that date. At document verification, the commission or appointing authority can ask for the marksheet, provisional degree, equivalent-qualification evidence and any relevant recognition document. A candidate should not treat an application acknowledgement as proof that the qualification will be accepted.

The CISF Fire post has a different essential-qualification route. The notice accepts a B.Sc. with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, or matriculation plus a three-year diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Automobiles, Chemical, Mining, Aeronautical or Telecommunication Engineering, or an equivalent examination from a recognised institution. The notice says a higher B.Tech or M.Tech may be value addition where the basic diploma qualification is present; a higher title by itself does not replace the stated basic condition. Open or distance-learning qualifications also need to satisfy the recognition rules set out in the notice and applicable regulatory framework.

Male candidates who want the Delhi Police Sub-Inspector post must possess a valid LMV driving licence for motorcycle and car on the date fixed for the Physical Endurance and Measurement Tests. The notice says that a male candidate without that licence may still be eligible for consideration for CAPF Sub-Inspector posts only. This is a post-specific condition, so it should be checked before a candidate selects preferences or assumes that the same documentation applies to every option.

The official application route is online only. SSC advises candidates not to wait for the final day because login or submission can be affected by load or connectivity. The portal's payment-status link is important for non-exempt candidates: if the fee is not received, the application can remain incomplete and be summarily rejected. Treat the downloaded acknowledgement and a visible completed payment state as part of the application record, not merely the final screen before payment.

The correction facility is not a replacement for submitting a complete application on time. Only applications received with the required payment within the original period can use the correction window. The correction charges are separate from the ₹100 application fee, apply to every candidate when a correction is made, and are not refundable. After the window closes, SSC says that requests by post, fax, email or hand will not be entertained. Candidates should therefore proofread the form before the initial submission and use correction only for a genuine error or necessary modification.

The notice sets different height and chest standards by post, gender and category. For example, the Delhi Police table lists 170 cm for most male candidates, 165 cm for specified hill and regional categories and 162.5 cm for male Scheduled Tribe candidates; the corresponding female figures include 157 cm, 155 cm and 154 cm. CAPF and CISF Fire tables have their own category rows and chest measurements, so the values should not be copied from one post to another. A candidate who seeks a permitted height or chest relaxation will need the prescribed certificate from the competent authority. The PET itself is qualifying, and the notice says Ex-Servicemen are not required to undergo PET but must meet the applicable physical and medical conditions.

SSC has not announced the computer-based examination schedule in this notice. The selection path described is Paper-I, PST/PET, Paper-II and Detailed Medical Examination, with document verification and preference processes at the stages specified by the commission and user departments. The notice says candidates will later be asked to submit post or force preferences online after publication of the Paper-II result. Those preferences are final and irreversible, and a candidate who fails to submit a preference for a post or force will not be considered for that choice. Read the preference instructions closely when SSC opens that stage instead of treating the initial application as the final allocation decision.
